I am a Plastics Engineer (MS - Stevens Institute of  Technology) with over 15 years of  domestic and international experience in Product Development, Tooling and Assembly System design  in the Medical, Toy  and Consumer  Product   industries. I have been  involved in all phases of  new product development from the writing  of  the Product Definition through the design of   the product, tooling and assembly systems.

I have the training and experience to review  products, designs and manufacturing   procedures  for defects, flaws and errors. I can trace and document  the decisions that led to the final product noting simple, inexpensive design or manufacturing changes and warnings which, had been incorporated, would have prevented injury without excessively increasing  the cost  or  reducing the utility  of   the product. I can document  these changes  with both engineering drawings and photo-realistic renderings.

I can assist in identifying defects and  tracking the critical decisions made between the inception of  a new product and it's final form. Decisions such as whether to change a part  or a material in order to reduce cost, whether to relax Quality Control standards to adapt to the manufacturing department's level of   assembly expertise, whether to skip recommended testing procedures or overlook certain subcontractor shortcomings because of cost or deadline pressures.

• Identified design and manufacturing problems with the introductory product of  a start-up medical device company. Redesigned the product and tooling achieving FDA approval and broad customer acceptance.
• Supervised  the Product Development Department  of  the Medical Products division  of  an International manufacturer. Developed a line of  new products doubling revenue from $25 to $50 million.
• Reviewed product and mold designs of a new Internet Telephone. Designed the Assembly, Decorating and Quality Control systems for the company’s Chinese manufacturing facility.
• Defined a new product for Fuji Medical Systems. Wrote the product specifications and designed the user interface.
• Reviewed and restructured the technical functions of an American subsidiary of an English Packaging company. Reduced product to market time by 20%, improving cash flow, sales volume and market share.
• Integrated the Design and Engineering process of several Point of Purchase Display companies, facilitating the flow of information between departments reducing both the lead times for new product designs and design errors.
